Black Scoter
Thanks to JoAnne Russo, who posted a report in the VTBird list, I was finally able to see and take a photo of an adult male Black Scoter which was swimming around by himself on a small pond in Newfane, VT. It's another life bird for me and I had been looking for one all fall after reading various reports in the VT, NH and Mass birding lists.

ReplyDeleteChris, it was probably a once in a lifetime opportunity for us. We are fortunate to live in a 3 state corner of VT and have ready access to those states' birding lists. I have gotten many fruitful leads that way. And in addition great neighbors watch out for us.

ReplyDelete....I tromped around Lake Erie looking for this fellow in the freezing cold last weekend but was unsuccessful. Glad you caught yours. He is beautiful. I love the color contrast.
